08:00 - 18:00, 15.01.2026

Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám

As part of an official visit and working trip to Vietnam, on the morning of January 15, 2026, the delegation of Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, led by Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa, visited the Special National Heritage Site of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám.

The delegation was introduced to the history of the formation and development of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, Vietnam's most prominent center for education and talent cultivation during the monarchical period. In particular, Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa expressed deep interest in the 82 Doctoral Steles — a Documentary Heritage inscribed under UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme — gaining a deeper understanding of the Vietnamese people's longstanding tradition of reverence for learning, respect for teachers, and esteem for talented individuals.

Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa expressed his admiration for the talent and virtue of the wise rulers and sages enshrined at the heritage site. He also paid special attention to the renowned teacher Chu Văn An — a figure who devoted his entire life to the cause of education and the cultivation of talent for Vietnam.

At the conclusion of the visit, Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa extended his sincere gratitude to the staff of the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities for their warm and respectful reception, and for sharing the site's historical, cultural, and educational values.
