President of the European Council Visits the Special National Monument of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam
On the afternoon of January 29, 2026, as part of his official visit to Viet Nam, Mr. Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, accompanied by his delegation, visited the Special National Monument of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong welcomed and accompanied the delegation throughout the program.
During the visit, the President of the European Council and members of the delegation toured the entire heritage site and were briefed on the history, cultural and educational values, and the significant role of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam in the course of Viet Nam's national development. Iconic architectural works such as Khue Van Cac, the Doctoral Stele Garden, Dien Dai Thanh, along with the ancient and harmonious landscape, left a deep impression on the delegation.
Highly appreciating the efforts in preserving and promoting heritage values, Mr. Antonio Costa expressed his admiration for the historical, educational, and cultural values that have been continuously upheld over many centuries at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam. The President of the European Council was particularly impressed by the harmonious combination of traditional architecture and green spaces, which together create a heritage complex of profound historical depth, vividly reflecting Viet Nam's cultural identity.
At the conclusion of the visit, Mr. Antonio Costa signed the guestbook, expressing his gratitude for the warm and thoughtful reception and the meaningful experiences at one of Ha Noi's most representative historical and cultural monuments.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong presented Mr. Antonio Costa with a commemorative publication about Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam as a culturally meaningful souvenir, conveying appreciation for the visit and serving to introduce the monument's outstanding historical and educational values to international friends.
