DIGITAL APLICATIONS IN THE EXHIBITION AT VĂN MIẾU-QUỐC TỬ GIÁM
The exhibition "Văn Miếu in the revival of Hanoi's heritage from 1898 - 1954" is being held at Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám. The exhibition recounts the process of restoring and preserving the Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám relic in the period from 1898-1954. This work was conducted by researchers, architects, assistants, and those whose hearts were interested in Văn Miếu, so that Hanoi's heritage would be protected and saved for the next generation.
While visiting the exhibition, visitors can experience the journey of change and development of the relic over time, through digital applications and technology. In the middle of the exhibition is a small red room decorated with antique motifs, where there is a screen displaying 2 videos. These videos use 3D technology to recount the restoration of the Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám relic.
The first video is called "The present and past, in the same space." It reconstructs the area of the Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám relic as seen today. Interwoven in the video, one can see every part of the relic, as it appeared about 100 years ago. This helps visitors have a better point of comparison of the landmark in the past, compared to the present. The video doesn’t just show photographs, but it is also made with professional quality sound clips in order to bring the audience back to the early 20th century. This includes the sounds of wheels pulling, the sounds of bells on the street, the knocking of carpenters repairing the architectural works, and the music of Confucius ceremonies in the early 20th century in Bai Duong (The ceremony house of Văn Miếu).
The second video is called "In the Arms of Restoration". It reconstructs 3D images of each area in the landmark in 1900, 1924, 1954 and 2023. The video shows the changes of the heritage landmark through each milestone of time. The visitors will see potato fields and corn fields cultivated at the heritage site in the 1930s, the stone stelae area without their roofs, and the architecture of Khải Thánh temple before it was destroyed. The Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám relic has its present appearance thanks to the cooperation of many generations, to restore it over the years gone by.
The exhibition will be on display until the end of May 1, 2023.
