ENCOURAGING READING IN THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ERA
Welcome to the 3rd Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, held on the morning of April 21, 2024, at Ho Van, Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. A discussion session titled "Encouraging Reading in Vietnam in the Digital Transformation Era" took place. Special guest at the event was Dr. Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thái Hà Books.
Dr. Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng shared: To maximize the value of books and promote reading culture, reading promotion activities are being carried out to make it easy for readers across provinces to access and embrace in the current digital technology era. Publishing activities are being digitized, diversifying types of books for readers to easily access such as e-books and audiobooks.
In this morning's discussion session, not only did we talk about promoting reading in the digital transformation era, Dr. Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng also shared more about: What is language used for? What are the ways to receive information and knowledge? How can we approach knowledge from books? How is the approach to knowledge from books in the digital economic era different from previous eras? What makes pocket books interesting?
Regardless of the era, books always play an important role in enhancing knowledge, skills, developing thinking, educating and shaping human character. It is necessary to encourage and develop a reading movement in the community, create a favorable reading environment, establish reading habits in families, schools, organizations, and contribute to building a learning society.
