OPENING CEREMONY OF THE SPRING CALLIGRAPHY FESTIVAL 2024
On the afternoon of February 3, 2023 (Lunar December 24, the year of Quý Mao), at Văn lake, Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, the opening ceremony of the Spring Calligraphy Festival 2024 and the calligraphy exhibition "Studiousness" took place. This year's Spring Calligraphy Festival is organized by the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám in collaboration with Nhân Mỹ School, Longlink Vietnam Company.
With the theme of " Studiousness" the Spring Calligraphy Festival 2024 highlights the tradition of filial piety, honoring the thousand-year-old traditional values of our nation. 40 calligraphers writing in Chinese characters, Nom characters, and Vietnamese alphabet participated in the Spring Calligraphy Festival, bringing beautiful calligraphic pieces with many auspicious wishes to the public. To facilitate visitors in obtaining calligraphy this year, the Organizing Committee arranged calligraphy booths interspersed with traditional handicraft stalls around Ho Van, creating a cultural landscape imbued with traditional values.
This year, 50 calligraphic works by gentlemen and ladies were displayed around Văn lake, with the content of the works reflecting the spirit and tradition of " Studiousness" of the Vietnamese people through generations. Additionally, the Organizing Committee also exhibited 50 calligraphic works in the front yard area of Ho Van. A highlight in this exhibition area is a "Path of Characters" with 9 pairs of columns symbolizing the Path of Education or the Path of Virtue, with Pillars representing the virtuous talents of the country.
Besides, the Spring Calligraphy Festival 2024 features various rich activities such as recreating traditional educational examination spaces, introducing traditional handicraft products of craft villages, performing ethnic music and dance, introducing Spring culinary culture, folk games, etc.
To ensure that visitors to the monument welcome the spring in a joyful, healthy, and safe atmosphere, the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám has coordinated with relevant agencies, local authorities to develop plans to ensure security and order, solve traffic congestion, ensure fire prevention and fighting... at Ho Van and the entire area of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám during the Spring Calligraphy Festival 2024.
The Spring Calligraphy Festival will take place from February 3, 2024, to February 19, 2024 (from Lunar December 24, the year of Quy Mao to January 9, the year of Giap Thin), opening daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
