DYEING PÀ CÒ YARN AT VĂN MIẾU
Taking part in workshop “Thiên, Thủy, Thổ: Interferences”at Thái Học courtyard of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, people could experience to extend yarn with technic of Wax Atelier (London), learn how to dye yarn and twist yarn with traditional technic of the Mông Xanh craftmen in Pà Cò, Mai Châu district, Hòa Bình province.
“Thiên, Thủy, Thổ: Interferences”exhibition was within the framework of activities of Vietnam Design Week 2023 at Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. The exhibition was led by Wax Atelier (London) combinating craftmen from Pà Cò as well as from KILOMET109 group,
Vũ Thảo who played a role as a designer and artist of KILOMET109 group shared that: “Every each of work was made by a plenty of different craftmen and artists from different locations to tell a story of resultant. After the covid pandemic, everything was away from each other. This project being an opportunity to yank the people together, conveying the message of sustainability and spread.”
The exhibition was divided into 3 sections standing for 3 worlds: Earth, Water, Heaven basing on the connection between earth and water with local materials. In the section of Earth, the works with high applicability made out of natural materials such as silk thread and hemp and flax …relating to earth. and forest. In the section of Water, fashion designs and accessories and beewax candles made out of water. The last section was Heaven with documentary movie showing the features of craftmen in Pà Cò.
The project was an opportunity to respect to Lady Saints as well as Saint managing heaven, river, forest and mountain to show interference between nature and human.
The exhibiton opened till the end of 29th in September at Thái Học Courtyard of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám
