EXPLORING THE FRESHNESS AND MODERNITY OF CALLIGRAPHY ART THROUGH THE EXHIBITION “NÉT ĐAN THANH” AT VĂN MIẾU

On the afternoon of November 14th, the opening ceremony of the Thang Long - Hanoi Calligraphy Exhibition with the theme “NÉT ĐAN THANH” took place at Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám.

Visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to admire 60 artworks from 16 selected artists that harmoniously matched the theme of “NÉT ĐAN THANH” satisfying both content and form, ensuring the artistic spirit that the exhibition aimed for. Calligraphy artists brought richness to the presentation style, diversity in artistic styles, and subtlety in the expression of characters on paper.

In its literal sense, "Đan thanh 丹青"  which is the color red, and blue  Originally, it referred to the strokes and color patches in painting, encompassing the art of painting in general. Later, it acquired the additional meaning of artistic creation through lines, strokes, and writing. "Đan" also refers to books written in vermilion ink recording achievements, historical records, and accomplishments, while "Thanh" is associated with "thanh sử 青史," meaning historical records or history.

At this point, "Đan thanh" takes on the added connotation of historical records, expanding to include all material and spiritual values, culture, literature, and art that are preserved and documented in historical records. "Đan thanh" also serves as a recognition of individuals who have made significant contributions in various fields. Additionally, it signifies illumination and brilliance, much like what has been and is being passed down as an everlasting example.

“NÉT ĐAN THANH” is the title of the exhibition, carrying multiple rich meanings that convey messages through the literary charm of both ancient and contemporary talents. The messages are being rewritten, unfolded, and expressed through each stroke and drawing of the contemporary calligraphy and painting artists.

The exhibition runs from November 14th to the end of November 30th at the Front Hall, Thai Hoc courtyard. Don't miss it!"
