INFORMATION ABOUT VIETNAM DESIGN WEEK 2023 (4TH EDITION) AT VĂN MIẾU – QUỐC TỬ GIÁM
On the morning of September 14th, in Giám garden of Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám, the organizers of Vietnam Design Week 2023 (4th edition) officially announced the details of the activities that will take place from September 23rd to September 29th at Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám.
According to the organizers, the program includes a series of activities such as the Designed by VietNam, the Design of the Year award, the Design Fair VietNam, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and more.
Under the theme "Design from Constraints" (Embracing Constraints), this year's Designed by VietNam competition was launched in late April 2023 and received 150 entries. A panel of experts selected 31 designs to advance to the final stage for exhibition and the grand finale.
Notably, for the first time within the framework of Vietnam Design Week, the Design of the Year 2023 award is being introduced to honor the best product designs in Vietnam. The Design Fair VietNam will take place in Giám garden of Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám, featuring unique architectural and landscape settings, attracting nearly 50 domestic and international design and production units with over 100 booths in various fields such as interior and exterior furnishings, decor, handicrafts, fashion, and communications.
This marks the fourth year that Vietnam Design Week has been organized. Mr. Lê Việt Hà, Chairman of the VietNam Design Group and co-chairman of the organizing committee, stated, "VietNam Design Week has gradually become an effective platform for connecting the contemporary design community with traditional craft villages nationwide. After three editions with the main activity being the Designed by VietNam competition, starting this year, we will have two additional main activities: the Design Fair Vietnam, connecting designers, manufacturers, and businesses to bring well-designed products to the market, and the Design of the Year award to honor outstanding product designs."
According to Dr. Lê Xuân Kiêu, Director of the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám, "In recent years, Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám has undergone significant renovations in its appearance and operating methods, becoming a friendly cultural space while preserving its traditional values and keeping up with the spirit of the times. With the past and upcoming activities of Vietnam Design Week, especially the Design Fair in Giám garden, the public and those who love Hanoi and beauty will have the opportunity to experience Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám even more."
The opening ceremony of the fourth edition of Vietnam Design Week will take place at the Thái Học courtyard, along with the Designed by VietNam competition exhibition and the Design Fair VietNam outside the Garden of Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám, on the evening of Saturday, September 23rd.
The closing ceremony and award presentation for Vietnam Design Week 2023 will be held on September 29th.
