Press Conference for the Spring Calligraphy Festival 2020

 

On the afternoon of January 13, 2020, The Centre for Scientific and Cultural Activities Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam held a press conference on the preparation work of the Spring Calligraphy Festival 2020 at the front building, Thai Hoc area, the Special National Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Landmark.

During the Spring Calligraphy Festival 2020, there were a lot of activities organized to bring the visitors a joyful atmosphere, connection, and return to the value of national culture in the first days of the lunar new year in the sacred space Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam such as: The Exhibition of calligraphy with the theme “Accomplished Virtue”; writing calligraphy activities with 52 tents for the calligraphers; The traditional craft village's kiosks offering a colorful space, cultural folk games... In addition, there was space for visitors to rest and enjoy the beauty of Hanoi cuisine.

At the press conference, the journalists asked many questions on the theme “Accomplished Virtue”, the selection of writers, and the activities at the Spring Calligraphy Festival including funding for writing tents, the price of papers, the writer's level, ...

Mr Le Xuan Kieu, director of the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam Cultural and Scientific Centre, said the recruitment of writers in Van Lake this year was very serious. The Organizing Committee did not limit numbers but were interested in the quality of the writers. The criteria for evaluating writers was more stringent this year than previous years, which requires the writers to strive to improve themselves every year.

Mr Le Xuan Kieu said every year the Organizing Committee will choose a theme for the exhibition with the intention of introducing the positive values of the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam: fondness of studying, piety, respecting the teacher and and their talents  ... and through the calligraphy works bringing the breath of contemporary life. Thus, , these efforts nurture love for the heritage, enhance national culture of the younger generation, and contribute to the development of education on "Accomplished virtue, Attained talent ".
