PRESIDENT OF THE FRENCH SENATE GÉRARD LARCHER VISITED VĂN MIẾU – QUỐC TỬ GIÁM
On the morning of December 9 President Of The French Senate Gérard Larcher paid a visit to the Special National Landmark Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám
Welcoming the President and the delegation at the relic, there were Dr. Lê Xuân Kiêu, Director of the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám and Dr. Philippe Le Failler, Director of the French School of the Far East in Hanoi.
Walking on a small path lined with trees leading to the interior of the landmark, and admiring the ancient buildings, President Of The French Senate Gérard Larcher and the delegation appreciated the traditional architecture, the harmony between trees, lakes and Vietnamese buildings here. The President of the Senate was also interested in the educational motto: Training people with both virtue and talent of the Vietnamese nation, these are the name of the two gates Thành Đức (Accomplished Virtue) and Đạt Tài (Attained Talent) in the site of the relic.
When visiting the Thái Học courtyard, standing before the altar of teacher Chu Văn An, the President of the Senate and the delegation respectfully offered incense sticks, expressing admiration and respect for the highly moral teacher of the Vietnamese nation.
The visit left good impressions about the history, culture and people of Vietnam, the President wrote in the guestbook: “The visit to a relic rich in cultural traditions and precious values of the Vietnamese people".
