WRITING CONTEST AND EXHIBITION OF HỒ CHÍ MINH’S SAYINGS IN HANGEUL

On the afternoon of September 22, within the framework of the Vietnam-Korea Cooperation Program 2022, a writing contest and exhibition displaying “Quotations of President Hồ Chí Minh in Hangeul” took place at the Special National Landmark of Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám. The contest is one of many activities taking place to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea in order to promote the values of similar traditional cultural heritage between the two countries.

The writing contest and exhibition of " Quotations of President Hồ Chí Minh in Hangeul," aims to creatively apply traditional cultural values to international exchanges. This contest will introduce traditional Korean culture in general, and the culture of Korean handwriting in particular, to Vietnam. At the same time, the contest also promotes Koreans' understanding of Vietnam's intangible culture and Hồ Chí Minh’s ideology. Uncle Hồ’s teachings have become the "guideline" for the development of Vietnam today.

The exposition took place with much enthusiasm from the managers of culture, museums, monuments, etc. with the purpose of participating and cooperating in the implementation of the project between the two parties. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Văn Trụ - President of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association said: “In daily life, President Ho Chi Minh's simple but profound sayings have had a great influence on the thinking and lifestyle of young Vietnamese. In addition, it's increasingly popular for Vietnamese youths to study Korean. This is the foundation for the implementation of the cooperation program between Vietnam and Korea in 2022. The combining of Korean calligraphy and Hồ Chí Minh’s philosophy is the main idea of the event”.

At the conference, the signing ceremony of "The co-organization of cultural exchange events between the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association and the Korea Cultural Resource Institute also took place. Dr. Lê Thị Minh Lý, Vice President of Vietnam Cultural Heritage and Dr. Seung Young Uhm, Director of the Korean Cultural Resources Institute signed the agreement. This was witnessed by many department leaders and conference guests.

On October 27, 2022, a performance and writing contest of "President Hồ Chí Minh’s saying in Hangeul" is expected to be held at Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám to select and award the best works. These will be brought back to Korea for woodcarving by artisans in Boryeong city.

Korean woodblock carvings by artist in Boryeong, award-winning calligraphy on paper, and Ink Stones are honored as a "living human treasure". These works, created by Korean artisans, will be displayed to the public at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum on Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day this year.

The contest is sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Boryeong City, Chungcheongnam-do city, The fund of Korean International Cultural Exchange Development, The Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, and The Institute of Korean cultural resources, in coordination with various agencies and departments.
