THE CEREMONY TO KICK OFF THE CONTEST "SKETCHES OF THE VĂN MIẾU-QUỐC TỬ GIÁM"
On December 3, 2020, at the Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám, the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám in collaboration with Hanoi Construction University organized the Ceremony to kick off the Contest "Sketches of The Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám". The Contest takes place from December 3, 2020 to December 31, 2020, and is held for students of universities in Hanoi whose major is Architecture, Fine Arts. The participants are mainly from Hanoi Construction University, Hanoi Architectural University, Hanoi Open University, Vietnam Fine Arts University.
The contest "Sketch of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám" is an activity in response to the commitment between Hanoi and UNESCO on a program of a network of creative cities. At the same time, it is also a good opportunity for students who are creative and have a passion for architectural works and artifacts at the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. Thereby, it helps to spread the passion for painting as well as love for cultural heritage to the students, which contributes to preserving traditional cultural values, and laying a firm foundation for the creativity and sustainable development of Hanoi in the future.
According to the Organization Board, the contestant who wins the First prize will be awarded 10,000,000 VND; 02 Second prizes, each prize: 5,000,000 VND; 03 Third prizes, each prize: 2,000,000 VND and 05 Consolation prizes: each prize: 1,000,000 VND. In addition, the entries which are of good quality will be on display at the Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám in January 2021. The works on display will be awarded a Certificate. The Award Presentation ceremony and Exhibition are scheduled to be held on January 14, 2021.
Before that, on October 30, 2019, General Director of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay signed a Decision recognizing 66 cities around the world as a member country of the UNESCO network of creative cities, among them is Hanoi. Since then, Hanoi has participated in the process of promoting international cooperation among the cities in the network, with the aim of building a cultural foundation for sustainable urban development.
The contest "Sketches of Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám" is not only an opportunity that helps nurture the creativity of students who love art, but also contributes significantly to preserving Vietnamese cultural heritage, and The Văn Miếu-Quốc Tử Giám is one of them.
