PRESCHOOL STUDENTS EXPLORE HERITAGE AT VĂN MIẾU - QUỐC TỬ GIÁM

Recently, the students of 20/10 Kindergarten were thrilled to have their first experience learning about a unique yet familiar mascot – the Nghê – through a heritage experience program with the theme "Oh, look! The Nghê!" at Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám. The curiosity and excitement were evident in the children's eyes as they gradually understood more about this special symbol in Vietnam's cultural heritage.

The program guided the children to explore the various Nghê figures at different positions within the heritage site, helping them understand the unique significance of the mascot at each location. With the thorough guidance of the educators, the children eagerly searched for and identified the Nghê figure on the Four Pillars, on the Doctor Stone Steles, at the Đại Thành Gate, and on Confucius's statue.

The Nghê on the Four Pillars at the front gate of Văn Miếu represents the symbol of wisdom and is said to be able to distinguish right from wrong, knowing who is good and who is bad. The Nghê on the edge of the Doctor Stone Steles for the exam in 1602 conveys joy, happiness, and reverence with a joyous expression of achievement. The Nghê acting as a door stopper at the Đại Thành Gate looks cheerful, welcoming visitors, while the Nghê on Confucius's statue symbolizes intelligence, wisdom, strength, and good fortune.

In addition to learning about the Nghê figures, the children participated in many exciting hands-on activities. The obstacle course game helped them develop their physical skills while also allowing them to identify the Nghê mascot dynamically and visually. The coloring activity stimulated the children's creativity and personal interpretation of the mascot. Technology has enabled children to interact with the image of the Nghê through a digital application, providing them with a fresh, engaging, and thrilling experience.

The program helped the children gain a deeper understanding of the Nghê figure – a symbol rich in cultural value in Vietnam's heritage – and sparked their curiosity and love for exploration. Through diverse activities, combining tradition and technology, the program created a lively learning environment that contributed to nurturing a love for heritage in the younger generation.
