PAINTING EXHIBITION “NATIONAL PRIDE” AT THE VĂN MIẾU – QUỐC TỬ GIÁM HERITAGE SITE
On the afternoon of September 21, at the Bái Đường Hall of the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám heritage site, the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, in collaboration with the creative enterprise TiredCity, held the opening ceremony of the painting exhibition titled “National Pride”. The exhibition aims to capture and preserve proud images and moments that celebrate the spirit of being Vietnamese.
The exhibition features 40 illustration works by 39 artists from across the country. Each painting tells its own story—from simple childhood memories to unique cultural traits of different regions, such as the vibrant traditional costumes of highland ethnic communities or the image of the red flag with a yellow star, a sacred symbol closely tied to the nation’s glorious history.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms Nguyễn Thị Mai, Head of the Research and Collection Department, representing the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, shared:
Through the exhibition ‘National Pride’, young artists have expressed their love for the homeland and the country, offering the public a heartfelt and affectionate perspective on a beautiful and friendly Vietnam. We can see the charming smiles of children, the joy and happiness in everyday labour… Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám is not only a place that honours the tradition of learning, respect for teachers, and appreciation for talents; we also hope to continue collaborating with partners and young artists to bring even more creative works to the public.”
Sharing more about the exhibition, Ms Bùi Ngọc Xuân, Head of Community Engagement of the young creative enterprise TiredCity, said:
“This is the eighth time that TiredCity and the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám have co-organised activities for young people. The Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, as a heritage site rich in cultural values, has provided great support and opportunities for young creators and artists to express their creativity and present their works to the public.”
Each brushstroke in the exhibition conveys love for the homeland, gratitude to past generations, and faith in a bright future that the young generation continues to preserve and promote.
The exhibition not only offers visitors a fresh artistic experience but also helps spread historical stories and cultural values, serving as a bridge that connects young people with the heritage and deepens their understanding and appreciation of their nation.
The exhibition runs until September 30, 2025.
