On the afternoon of July 14th, at the Thai Hoc House, Temple of Literature relic, the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, in collaboration with the Hanoi Watercolor Art Club (HWA), held the opening ceremony of the art exhibition titled "Connections".

The exhibition showcases nearly 200 works by 42 artists, inviting viewers to experience profound emotional connections between people and their homeland. These connections are reflected not only in images of city corners, rural villages, highland regions, the sea, bridges, or the warm glow of a fire – all symbolic of the ever-present bond between humans and nature – but also in portraits with diverse expressions that still share a common sense of serenity and gentleness. Animal-themed paintings are also particularly vivid and endearing.

In her speech, Ms. Nguyen Lien Huong, Deputy Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, co-organizer of the exhibition, stated: “For us, heritage is not only about tangible and intangible values recognized over time, but also about the living currents of contemporary life as expressed through art. Co-hosting the 'Connections' exhibition with HWA reflects our respect for beauty and art in general. We hope that through this exhibition, the beauty of art will reach an even broader audience.”

Speaking about the exhibition at the Temple of Literature, artist Bui Thanh Viet Hung, President of the Hanoi Watercolor Art Club (HWA), shared: “The year 2025 marks a memorable milestone for HWA as we officially establish our own office, with active participation from over 70 member artists. This year also sees HWA strengthening connections with fellow artists from across Vietnam and international partners and art clubs such as 'Toi Ve', 'VWA', and more. Beyond creation and exchange, HWA is also committed to community art programs, especially those held in unique cultural and educational spaces like the Temple of Literature.” He emphasized the desire of the artists to contribute to heritage preservation through painting, and to inspire creativity through the simple beauty found in daily life at this historic educational site.

During the exhibition, various interactive programs are also held, including live painting demonstrations, art talks, community painting sessions, dó-paper printing, and creative gift-giving activities.

The exhibition serves as a bridge connecting artists with the public – a place where lovers of beauty can come together to share emotions and creative inspiration. Here, traditional art blends harmoniously with modern expression within a historical and cultural space, offering a gentle, refined, and contemplative aesthetic experience that helps spread artistic inspiration to a wider audience.

The exhibition is open until July 30 at the Temple of Literature.
