LET'S LOOK BACK AT THE "DRAGON PAINTING EXHIBITION" AT VĂN MIẾU – QUỐC TỬ GIÁM

The "Dragon Painting Exhibition" is currently taking place at Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, showcasing 80 outstanding illustrated artworks by over 75 young artists. Each painting tells a story, a unique and intriguing perspective on the "Dragon" creature of the Lunar New Year 2024.

In the Vietnamese consciousness, the dragon is one of the "four sacred creatures," extremely sacred and noble. The dragon also symbolizes power, vitality, and growth... but in this exhibition, the image of the dragon becomes very familiar, diverse, and full of life.

Visitors to the exhibition see the Dragon incarnated into characters in cartoons, legends, sometimes the dragon transforms into means of transportation like in the artwork "Bringing Tet Home" by artist Chi Chi, ready to take passengers back to their hometowns for Tet celebrations. The dragon transforms into a girl as seen in the artwork "Dragon Soul Clay" by artist Nguyễn Trương Thái Hoàng, inspired by clay tea pots with dragon motifs. The dragon sometimes represents an occupation like silk weaving in the artwork "Weaving Dragon" by artist Phúc Huy. "Weaving Dragon" originates from the childhood memories of the artist, who used to tie his grandmother's headscarf into the shape of a dragon and dance...

It can be said that the dragon embodies various everyday life characters, undergoing familiar transformations in daily life. The Dragon creature becomes unique, impressive through the fresh perspectives of young artists, bringing many interesting and joyful perspectives to visitors as Tet approaches.

The exhibition continues until February 20, 2024.

If you visit Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám during this Tet holiday, don't miss the chance to admire the dragon creature as well as the exhibited artworks here.
