EXHIBITION “QUỐC TỬ GIÁM – THE FIRST NATIONAL SCHOOL” AT VĂN MIẾU – QUỐC TỬ GIÁM
On December 20, the Scientific and Cultural Activities Center of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám will hold the opening ceremony of the exhibition " Quốc Tử Giám - The First National School. The exhibition introduces more than 200 documents and artifacts, including the color photos which will be showed for the first time along with precious archaeological artifacts that prove the foundation of Quốc Tử Giám.
The exhibition “Quốc Tử Giám - The first National School” is divided into two static and dynamic spaces, indoor and outdoor. The indoor display will take viewers back to Quốc Tử Giám through each historical milestone, starting with the Lý dynasty, developing under the Trần - Hồ dynasties, culminating in the Lê - Mạc - Lê Trung Hưng dynasties. transformation under the Nguyễn Dynasty, and the revival of the landmark today.
With each stage of development, Quốc Tử Giám is marked by celebrities or typical events of this school. The outdoor display is the garden area behind the Western building. This space helps visistors know about the life of a Confucian student since he was a student from the countryside, and took the exam in the capital, and then returning to his hometown to honor his ancestors.
Mr. Patrick Hoarau - graphic expert, head of the exhibition design team said about the idea of designing the indoor display: “The indoor display space is designed in Western building, the fourth courtyard of Văn Miếu- Quốc Tử Giám. The building has a lot of doors, so we chose the design so that visitors who enter from any door can understand this exhibition space.”
He said: “The outdoor exhibition tells the story of a student's life since he left the village to go to school, then took an exam, then returned to his hometown to honor his ancestors … The design team came up with ideas to have arrangements which were appropriate in this space.”
The outdoor display area is a space for experiential activities of the relic such as: writing calligraphy, The outdoor display area is also a space for experiential activities bearing the characteristics of the monument such as: calligraphy writing, parallel sentences…
The exhibition " Quốc Tử Giám - The first National School" will take place right in the space of the landmark which will help the visitors easily access and understand more about the history and culture of Quốc Tử Giám.
