SEMINAR: “TOWARDS MAKING HANOI A CULTURAL INDUSTRY HUB OF THE REGION AND THE WORLD”

On the afternoon of August 28, 2025, at the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám  relic site, Hà Nội Mới Newspaper, in collaboration with the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, organized a seminar entitled “Towards Making Hanoi a Cultural Industry Hub of the Region and the World.”

The seminar was attended by:  Assoc. Prof. Dr Bùi Hoài Sơn, Full-time Member of the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture and Society; Assoc. Prof. Dr Phạm Quang Long, former Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi); Journalist Kiều Thanh Hùng, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Journalists Association; Dr Phạm Thị Lan Anh, Head of the Heritage Management Division (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports); Dr Lê Xuân Kiêu, Director of the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám.

During the seminar, participants exchanged and discussed key issues such as opportunities and challenges for Hanoi on its path to becoming a regional and global cultural industry center; identifying priority sectors and distinctive cultural products where Hanoi holds competitive advantages; and proposing solutions regarding mechanisms, policies, organizational models, investment resources, high-quality human resource development, communication strategies, and brand building for “Hanoi – the Creative City.” The role of the press and media system, including Hà Nội Mới Newspaper, was also emphasized in raising public awareness, fostering pride, responsibility, and aspirations for the capital’s development.

The seminar served as a meaningful forum connecting scholars, cultural managers, and practitioners in the fields of culture, arts, and creative industries. The insights and contributions shared provided both theoretical and practical foundations for orienting the development of cultural industries as a key economic sector, with distinctive products representing the identity and brand of the capital city.

Beyond its scientific and practical significance, the seminar also offered an opportunity to reflect on Hanoi’s achievements, discuss strategies for the future, and contribute valuable ideas to the draft Political Report to be submitted to the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee. These contributions are expected to form an essential basis for gradually realizing Hanoi’s vision of becoming a leading cultural industry centre of the nation, the region, and the world.
