THE 24TH ANNUAL PHẠM THẬN DUẬT HISTORICAL AWARDS CEREMONY 2024 AT VĂN MIẾU – QUỐC TỬ GIÁM

    On the morning of November 29, 2024, at the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, a national relic site, the Phạm Thận Duật Award Fund in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences hosted the Phạm Thận Duật Historical Awards Ceremony. This event honored the most outstanding doctoral theses in historical sciences nationwide.

Attendees included:

• Associate Professor Dr. Trần Đức Cường – President of the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences (VAHS)
• Professor Dr. Vũ Minh Giang – Vice President of VAHS
• Journalist Trịnh Thị Liên – Vice President of the Phạm Thận Duật Award Fund
• Historian Dương Trung Quốc – Vice President and General Secretary of VAHS
• Along with a large gathering of researchers and historians.

This year's competition recognized six exceptional doctoral theses in history:

1. First Prize: "Postal Services in Northern Vietnam from 1897 to 1929" by Dr. Trương Thị Hải (Vietnam Institute of History).
2. Second Prizes:
   • "The Military System during the Minh Mệnh Reign" by Dr. Hoàng Lương (Institute of Military History).
   • "Revolutionary Leaflets in Vietnam from 1930 to 1945" by Dr. Trương Thị Phương (Institute of History, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences).
3. Third Prizes:
   • "Party Leadership in Building Militia Forces from 2001 to 2015" by Dr. Phạm Thanh Tùng (Academy of Politics, Ministry of National Defense).
   • "Development of Human Resources in Information Technology in Vietnam from 1993 to 2020" by Dr. Bùi Thị Thuận (University of Labor and Social Affairs).
   • "Historical Sites and Temples Related to the Trần Dynasty in Đông Triều (Quảng Ninh)" by Dr. Kiều Đinh Sơn (Hạ Long University).

    The Phạm Thận Duật Award is the only official national-level Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences award. Named after Phạm Thận Duật (1825–1885), a 19th-century Vietnamese historian, patriot, and cultural figure, the award commemorates his significant contributions to Vietnam in fields ranging from politics and economy to diplomacy and defense during the reign of Emperor Tự Đức.
