OCTOBER HIGHLIGHTS: A SERIES OF DISTINCT CULTURAL EVENTS LEADING TO THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIBERATION OF THE CAPITAL
In this historic October, at the Special National Relic Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, a symbol of the tradition of valuing education and talent, numerous cultural and scientific activities have been organized, particularly those commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi.
On the evening of October 3, 2024, at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, the Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee held a ceremony to honor the outstanding graduates from universities and academies in Hanoi - representing the brightest flowers in the diverse garden of talented students from the capital.

Following this, the awards ceremony for the Vietnam Art Photography Contest and the opening of the Vietnam Art Photography Exhibition 2024 took place on the afternoon of October 5. This contest and exhibition is a significant event for photographers across the country, held biennially under the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Hanoi People's Committee, and the Thua Thien Hue People's Committee. The Department of Fine Arts, Photography, and Exhibition takes the lead in organizing, in cooperation with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and relevant local departments.

As part of the activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the "Cultural Festival for Peace" was officially organized by the Hanoi City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the morning of October 6 at Hoan Kiem Lake. A highlight of the opening ceremony was a performance and parade featuring over 9,000 participants, including a particular segment introducing the Special National Relic Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam with 100 participants, among them 82 performers dressed as Confucian scholars, symbolizing the 82 Doctor stone steles, along with 8 ceremonial bowls and 4 flags leading the procession.

From October 2 to 6, at the Centquatre Center in Paris, France, as part of the 19th Francophonie Summit, the Francophone Village served as a venue for cultural exchange and exploration among countries using the French language. More than 60 booths from over 30 countries and regions worldwide gathered at the Francophone Village to share and promote their cultures, initiatives, and heritage. The Vietnamese cultural space showcased the rich intangible heritage present in Vietnam, along with activities introducing traditional handicrafts and experiences related to Dong Ho painting and the art of printing patterns reminiscent of the 82 Doctor stone steles at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam. The event attracted a large audience from France and the global Francophone community.

On October 8, as part of the activities marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital, the organizing committee of the “Bui Xuan Phai – For the Love of Hanoi” award, in collaboration with the Sports and Culture Newspaper and Ashui Vietnam Corporation, held the 17th awards ceremony for the “Bui Xuan Phai – For the Love of Hanoi” award at Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam.

On the morning of October 9, The Center of Scientific and Cultural Activities Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam collaborated with artisan Le Dang Toan to inaugurate the exhibition "The La - A Thousand Years of Weaving". This exhibition presents a journey back to the weaving traditions of La Khe village, a famous craft village in Hanoi.

In 2024, Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam will serve as one of four broadcasting points supporting contestants in the final of the "The Road to Mount Olympia" competition held on October 13. This year, the relic is the Hanoi broadcasting point, supporting climber Nguyen Nguyen Phu from the Hanoi University of Education Specialized High School.

On the morning of October 18, The Center of Scientific and Cultural Activities Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, in cooperation with the Can Tho City Museum, organized an exhibition titled “Special National Relic Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam” in the sacred space of the Hung Kings Temple in Can Tho City.

On the afternoon of October 22, the awards ceremony and opening of the exhibition featuring works from the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam painting contest "Echoes of History" took place, organized by the Center of Scientific and Cultural Activities Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam in collaboration with Vietnam In Acquarello and Nhau Studio.

With its exemplary values of Vietnamese scholarship, Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam not only attracts visitors from both domestic and international backgrounds but also serves as a prominent destination for diplomatic delegations and officials from the Party and the State. On October 23, during an official visit to Vietnam, the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, Tan Sri Dato’ Johari Bin Abdul, and his wife, Puan Sri Datin Noraini Binti Mohd, visited the special national relic Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam.

On the morning of October 29, 2024, the Center of Scientific and Cultural Activities Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam in collaboration with the Ca Mau Provincial Museum, opened the exhibition "Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam - A Creative Space of Hanoi" at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial area in Ca Mau City.
