SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS: A SERIES OF OUTSTANDING CULTURAL EVENTS HONORING TRADITIONAL VALUES AND FOSTERING CONTEMPORARY ART

September commenced with a momentous occasion, the 2024 Vallet Scholarship award ceremony, orchestrated by the esteemed 'Meet Vietnam' Science and Education Organization. The Vallet Scholarship, a beacon of academic excellence, was bestowed upon 167 exceptional students and postgraduate students in northern Vietnam. This annual event, established by the venerable Professor Odon Vallet, Doctor of Law and History of Philosophy at the University of Paris Sorbonne, France, not only celebrates youthful brilliance but also ignites a fervent spirit of progress in the youth of Vietnam. The cultural and artistic activities that followed the scholarship ceremony painted a vibrant and meaningful picture of September.

Continuing the series of cultural events, on the morning of September 14, 2024, the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám held a seminar titled: "Vietnamese Calligraphy in the Present Context – Status and Direction." This seminar, organized as part of the "Nghiên bút còn thơm" Vietnamese calligraphy exhibition, provided an opportunity for artists, researchers, and art enthusiasts to discuss and share insights about the current state and development potential of Vietnamese calligraphy.

Just three days later, on the morning of September 17, 2024, at the Thái Học House in Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, a cultural exchange program titled "The Essence of Philosophy and Calligraphy" was held as part of the final round of the 2024 "Cultural Tourism Ambassador" contest. The event featured the participation of 35 outstanding contestants, offering them a chance to delve deeper into the art of calligraphy, an indispensable part of Vietnamese culture.

On the morning of September 23, 2024, the 19th 'Hanoi in My Heart' photography exhibition, with the theme 'Hanoi Rising and Advancing,' opened at the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám site. This exhibition, a collaborative effort between the Economic and Urban Newspaper and the Hanoi Elderly Photography Club, showcased 80 vibrant photos capturing the historic milestones and remarkable development of Hanoi over the 70 years since its liberation. The diverse range of photographs, each telling a unique story, added a rich and colorful dimension to the event.

September concluded with a poignant event. On the afternoon of September 27, 2024, , the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám unveiled the 'Ngộ 2024' painting exhibition. This exhibition, a labor of love, featured 35 works by five renowned artists, including Trường Thịnh, Đỗ Long, Anh Nguyên, Vũ Thùy Mai, and Như Ngọc. The pieces, created using unique materials such as watercolor on silk and pastel on paper, were a testament to the artists' personal life experiences, infusing the exhibition with a profound emotional depth. The exhibition will continue to inspire until October 8, 2024, at the Thái Học House in the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám complex.

September wrapped up with exceptional cultural events honoring traditional values and awakening creative potential in contemporary art. Continuing this spirit, October promises to bring many more exciting and diverse activities, ranging from unique exhibitions to meaningful artistic exchanges, creating a vibrant cultural life for the capital.
