CELEBRATION OF 20 YEARS OF PHAM THAN DUAT HISTORY AWARD AND CEREMONY

On November 29, 2019 at Thai Hoc House of the Special National Landmark Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam, the Vietnam History and Science Association and Pham Than Duat Award Fund organized “Celebration of 20 years of Pham Than Duat HistoryAward and ceremony”.

Historian Duong Trung Quoc – Member of the National Assembly, Vice Chariman and General Secretary of Vietnam History and Science Association; Architect Pham Vu Hung –Chairman of Pham Than Duat Award Fund were present, as well as historian academics of Pham Than Duat group, the leaders of Yen Mo district in Ninh Binh; headmaster and students of Pham Than Duat school in Ninh Binh.

The Pham Than Duat Award Fund and Vietnam History and Science Association selected Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam to organize the award ceremony. Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam has happily organized this event since the first year.

The awards are given annually to outstanding historians who have made significant contributions to the understanding of national history.
  This year, six doctoral academics were awarded for their excellent research and theses  of Vietnamese history .

The Pham Than Duat Award Fund was established on August 15, 2000 by the late architect Pham Dinh Nhan – descendant of Pham Than Duat.  Pham Than Duat was,a patriot and scholar of culture and historian who worked as mandarin under Nguyen dynasty.

Pr. PhD. Vu Minh Giang recalled the process of 20 years of Pham Than Duat History Award: “The way of Pham Than Duat Award Fund was right. The prestige of this award significantly raised the recognitionand importance of the study of history and social sciences of ournation. The late architect Pham Dinh Nhan – the founder of the fund and the late Pro.Phan Huy Le – Historian greatly contributed to the prestige of this award”

Pham Than Duat History Award encourages the historical talents in researching science, but also recognizes those who contribute to the passion of postgraduate work and young historians.
