THE UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY–GENERAL, ANTÓNIO GUTERRES VISITED VĂN MIẾU – QUỐC TỬ GIÁM
On the afternoon, Saturday, October 22, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres paid a visit to the Special National Landmark Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. The visit is within the scope of his official visit to Vietnam from October 21 until October 22, 2022.
Accompanying the delegation was Mrs. Phan Thị Kim Oanh, Vice Chairman to the Office of the President of Vietnam. In the gardens next to the ancient architectural buildings, Mr. António Guterres was introduced to the history and culture of the nearly thousand-year-old site Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. Special emphasis was given to the stories about the teacher, Mr. Chu Văn An - a shining example of the studious, loyal, and upright spirit of Vietnam.
The tour left Mr. Guterres with deep impressions of Vietnam's cultural history. In the guestbook he wrote: “It is with deep emotion that I came back to visit this remarkable temple and university, clear symbols of the rich history and cultural heritage of Vietnam”
After visiting, he expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from the Center of Cultural and Scientific Activities Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám.
