WORKSHOP ON "NON-PUBLIC HAN-NOM AND CALLIGRAPHY TRAINING ACTIVITIES" AT VĂN MIẾU – QUỐC TỬ GIÁM
On the morning of November 10, 2024, at the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám historical site, Nhân Mỹ School, in collaboration with the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám, the Institute of Han-Nom Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences), and the Department of Han-Nom Studies (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), organized the workshop titled "Non-Public Han-Nom and Calligraphy Training Activities." This event is part of the activities commemorating the 20th anniversary of Nhân Mỹ School's establishment (2005–2025).
They were also attended by researchers, students, members of calligraphy clubs, and many others interested in Han-Nom studies and calligraphy.
The workshop received 30 contributions focusing on three main topics:
1. Han-Nom Training:
• Curriculum and training materials
• Application of recent research achievements
• The role of woodblocks and literary relics in Han-Nom training
• Confucian rituals
• The significance of Han-Nom in specialized fields such as architecture, traditional medicine, education, and security
2. Calligraphy Training:
• Curriculum and training materials
• Research issues related to calligraphy theory, epigraphy, and historical scripts
• The history of calligraphy
• Current status of calligraphy training and activities in Vietnam
• Calligraphy and the organization of spring letter festivals
• Application of calligraphy in daily life
3. Management and Training Operations:
• Models and scales of Han-Nom and calligraphy training organizations
• Human resource management
• Perspectives on training from learners and stakeholders
• Roles, achievements, challenges, and recommendations for sustaining non-public training models
The workshop aimed to enhance the quality of research and the application of Han-Nom and calligraphy knowledge in training within non-public education systems, meeting the increasing societal demands in today's context.
