THE UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORKS

ATTENDING THE EXHIBITION OF “CALLIGRAPHY AND GRAFFITI DIALOGUE”

Graffiti artists from Hồ Chí Minh City took their works to the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám to prepare for the upcoming exhibition of “Calligraphy and Graffiti dialogue”

There are three young men in the Wallovers group. They have worked in the field of Graffiti art for many years. This is the first time they have attended the exhibition at Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. Their works show the style of combination of Calligraphy and Graffiti creatively.

Mr.ZKhoa -The leader of the team- said: “The group's works are the work of all three people, but still show the personality of each member. The team is bringing the traditional culture into their works to have their own characteristics. They used letters in traditional graffiti, and incorporated other elements such as calligraphy brushes on traditional papers, or bamboo material. The team used new elements like “Stickers” into their works, just like the youth often exchange each other with Stickers with each other instead of exchanging postcards. Therefore each member's Sticker is their own "Creative Character" on their work.  Through the "Character" on the picture, you know who drew it, like the signature on the picture of the author.”

Among the works drawn by the whole group, each member has two of their own works representing his or her own creative “Character”, but when the works are put together it would create a picture that gives a message for the whole group.

The exhibition of "Calligraphy and Graffiti Dialogues" at the Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám attracts the participation of young Calligraphy and Graffiti artists from the South, Central and Northern regions and it will be held in August 2022.
