CONFERENCE ON “DESIGNED BY VIETNAM – DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE

Following the activities in Vietnam Design Week 2021, on the morning of December 2, 2021, at the Thái Học house, the Special National landmark of Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám, The conference on “Designed by Vietnam – design and manufacture” was organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports with the aim of discussing the views of the "Designed by Vietnam" campaign in design and production in order to increase the value of Vietnamese products and goods. The conference was held in person and online .

Dr. Nguyen Quang said: “Currently we are thinking about how to contribute to Hanoi a creative space of urban scale. We have proposed a model to create cultural urban area with green technology and creative endeavors that are, humane, and provide housing services, societal infrastructure and ecological transportation. The goal is to build a green, creative city with ascience and technology exchange center for the country to attract investment; to enhance expertise,  creativity and knowledgein the population; become a "living laboratory" for renewable and eco-friendly energy technologies;  and provide a city park  and tourist attraction.”

The Organization Board of Vietnam Design Week wants to emphasize the message "Designed by Vietnam" instead of "Made in Vietnam" (manufactured/or processed in Vietnam). This slogan will motivate more designers, ofVietnamese nationality or foreigners living on the "S"-shaped strip of land as well, to be inspired, sought out, employed, and working with the elements, characteristics of culture, history, using ancient industries or local materials, stories of the past and present, modern urban rhythms, or  the feeling of  nature, to create  new innovative products.
